Gray by definition is an intermediate color between black and white which makes it the perfect new neutral color for furniture – or any other decor – in my book. Gray is a nice change from the traditional brown, black or beige. It can be cool or warm, traditional or modern, feminine or masculine.
Soft, cool colors – think muted Easter egg shades – are hot right now as top accent colors for gray. The Pantone color of the year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid and the Sherwin Williams color of the year is Exclusive Plum so look for shades or soft purple to lead the pack. If understated is not your thing, don’t be afraid to go bold. Bright accent colors like fuschia, orange and red will give your gray furniture the right amount of pop.
Gray goes with just about anything so don’t be afraid to make it your top color choice when shopping for new furniture. Changing up accent pieces in different color schemes will help keep your room fresh and inviting.
